eDContainer - The Web Container

Description

eDContainer is a web application enabling you to set up in a few minutes a fully customisable web site for the Internet/Intranet or a web interface for your developments. You can start producing and publishing your contents and functionalities (as HTML or PHP pages) as from the end of eDContainer installation without having, yet or at all, to bother about all the building of the site or of the interface.
It is relying on convention-based and simple configuration-based mechanisms in order to provide answer to the most encountered challenges and issues when having to build a web interface.

eDContainer is targeted to the developers of websites or web applications

From beginners to experts but does not yet offer advanced configuration screens. Configuration is done editing the eDContainer configuration files that have been written to be as user friendly as possible.

eDContainer can be used to build static and dynamic website

But is not a fully featured Content Management Solution (CMS). It defines simple principles and rules to create and manage your web pages and functional modules. It is an efficient solution to build small to medium size web sites or applications. It can however be used in combination with a CMS and/or a Template Engine (ex: Smarty).

eDContainer offers simple and efficient methods to publish contents in several languages

Your site or application contents can also change depending on the language, not offering all or the same contents in one language and the other. Changing the language does also not send the visitor back to the home page. The current page is replaced by the same page in the targetted language (if available).

eDContainer supports the use of Skins

Since v2.2, skin inheritance is supported, meaning that you define in the new skin only the parameters to change and inherit the others ones from the default skin or any other skin. You can switch from one skin to another with just a mouse click: switch skin.

eDContainer allows the rapid integration of others PHP based scripts

But it does not offer plug-in mechanisms or a plug-in API.

eDContainer is running on a Windows, Mac or Linux OS with a web server (Apache recommended) and PHP 4.1 or higher.
